In response to negative Forum posts after The Charlotte Observer published an article about 2016 UNC Morehead-Cain Scholar Kaleb Lyda, a transgender young adult, Holy Covenant’s Senior Minister Nancy Allison wrote an op-ed that was published on August 19. The original article highlighted the importance of the support Kaleb received from Jenny McCarthy — a teacher at Concord’s Jay M. Robinson High, faculty advisor to the school’s Gay Straight Alliance, and a member of Holy Covenant UCC. We’re proud of Kaleb, Jenny, and our pastor for taking a stand on behalf of transgender youth and God’s continuing work in the world.
