âAll Saints Day honors the beloved communityâpast and presentâwho continue to guide us in faith, justice, and love.”
At Holy Covenant UCC, we often say that âwe are surrounded by a great cloud of witnessesââa beautiful reminder drawn from Scripture (Hebrews 12:1) that those whoâve come before us continue to shape our lives and faith. All Saints Day is the moment we pause to honor them. â¨
Celebrated on November 1st and observed in worship the following Sunday, All Saints Day is an opportunity to remember those who have died, give thanks for their lives, and reflect on how their love and witness continue to ripple through our lives. In the UCC, this day isnât about statues or sainthood in the traditional senseâitâs about ordinary people who revealed extraordinary grace.
âSaints in the United Church of Christ are not just those in stained-glass windows â theyâre the ones who sat beside us in the pews, baked bread for communion, marched for justice, and helped raise our children in faith.â
We celebrate All Saints Day because memory is sacred. Because love endures. Because we are not alone in this journeyâand those who lit the way before us still walk with us in spirit.
Whether youâve been part of Holy Covenant for 30 years or just arrived last weekâAll Saints Day invites all of us to remember, reflect, and rejoice. The great cloud of witnesses includes you, too.
