✨ Worship & Music Ministry Team

🎶 A Ministry of Spirit and Song

Ed Vickery brings a lifetime of ministry, music, and faithful service to his role as Worship Team Lead at Holy Covenant UCC. Raised in a Baptist pastor’s family, Ed spent over 25 years serving as a youth and music minister before stepping into a new season of life rooted in authenticity and grace. After coming out and finding welcome in affirming faith communities, Ed and his husband Eric discovered Holy Covenant in 2010 — and never looked back. In addition to leading worship, Ed has served on Consistory and leads our Covenant Teams ministry. In his “retirement,” he also travels the skies as a flight attendant for Mesa Airlines.

✨ Worship and Music Ministry at Holy Covenant

“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness!” – Psalm 100

🎶 A Ministry of Spirit and Song

Worship at Holy Covenant UCC is a dynamic and sacred expression of who we are — open, affirming, justice-seeking, and deeply rooted in God’s inclusive love. Our Worship and Music Ministry Team thoughtfully curates services that celebrate the liturgical seasons, honor diverse voices, and uplift every soul who enters our space.

With creativity and care, the team brings together music, prayer, scripture, and symbolism to create services that are both reverent and joyful. From traditional hymns to contemporary anthems, from communion preparation to floral arrangements, worship is an offering — and a team effort.

🕊️ What the Worship Team Does

Our team collaborates weekly to prepare and enhance all aspects of the worship experience. Their contributions include:

  • Ensuring each service is inclusive, accessible, and reflective of our Open and Affirming values — welcoming all identities, abilities, and expressions of faith
  • Planning music and liturgy aligned with the liturgical calendar
  • Creating and presenting the PowerPoint presentation you see on screen each week
  • Participating in service bulletin creation and refinement — they don’t make themselves 😊
  • Preparing the sanctuary (altar care, communion setup guidance, candles)
  • Supporting our choir, bell ensemble, and guest musicians
  • Organizing and scheduling guest preachers and speakers
  • Creating, envisioning, and bringing to fruition the visual and symbolic elements for holy days, liturgical seasons, and more

🙌 There’s a Place for You 😊

If you love music, beauty, storytelling, or sacred space — there’s a place for you on the Worship Team. Whether you’d like to help once a season or each month, we welcome your gifts!
